On-the-Go Cold Brew Tea

Now that I have my repurposed kombucha bottle with the label removed, I have started to make myself cold brew teas. They are so easy. I carry some different tea bag flavors in my work backpack. Then I fill up my water bottle with water and drop a tea bag in. I let the string hang over the edge and put the cap on over the string to hold the tea bag in place. I let it "steep" in the cold water for 30-60 minutes for the flavors to infuse into the water. Because the lid is sealed, I can shake it gently to get more water surface to contact the tea bag. Then I remove the tea bag and enjoy!

I do this at work, at home, and even in an airport. I'm now saving money by not having to buy bottled water or flavored beverages at the airport after going through security. I used to wait until the midflight beverage service before I got a drink. Now I have a refreshing and delicious drink on me before I even board the plane!

Be sure to give this a try with your favorite water bottle (ideally a repurposed one). Here are some of my favorite cold brew tea brands and flavors:

Bigelow Botanicals Cold Water Infusion - these are made specifically for cold brewing. The only flavor I've tried so far is the Blueberry/Citrus/Basil and it is fantastic, but the others sound really delicious as well, especially the Watermelon/Cucumber/Mint.

Bigelow Lemon Lift and Lemon Echinacea Black Tea - I love Arnold Palmer drinks which are a mix of tea and lemonade. These teas replicate that flavor without all the sugar and sweetener in lemonade. They are perfectly refreshing. The Lemon Lift is easier to find but the Lemon Echinacea if you can find it has 100% daily value of Vitamin C.

Tazo Zen Green Tea - Any green tea makes a fabulous cold brew tea, but my personal favorite is this one. The flavor combination of spearmint, lemongrass, and lemon verbana is so good. This is my favorite go-to drink after doing yard work.

Celestial Seasonings Red Zinger - This is Celestial Seasoning best selling flavor. I love this tea for its intense red color from the hibiscus. Plus it has flavors of orange, cherry bark, lemongrass, and peppermint. The only downside is that the tea bags aren't individually wrapped by I just put a few in a snack size Ziploc bag for my backpack.

Ahmad Fruit Black Teas - My company's office manager is a fan of Ahmad Tea and stocks their fruit black teas in our breakroom. They have some wonderful flavor options like mango, peach, and black currant. I love now doing a cold brew using my bottle at work with one of these teas.

Brew La La Green Teas - Flavored green teas are Brew La La's specialty. There are so many great flavors like raspberry, cranberry, chamomile lemon, and ginger peach. These too are not individually wrapped so be sure to put them in a separate sealable bag if traveling with them in a backpack.
